Dr. Doris Rentsch is the Professor for Molecular Plant Physiology, University of Bern, Switzerland since 2001. Between 2009-2011, Prof. Doris Rentsch was director of the Institute of Plant Sciences, University of Bern. Since 2015, she became the head of Department of Biology, and also the member of Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) Research Commission at the University of Bern since 2014. Her research group focuses (i) the uptake and distribution of organic nitrogen (N) in plants, especially the role of peptide transporters for this process, and (ii) the characterization of parasitic protozoan amino acid transporters and their role as drug delivery systems or drug targets. Their research contributes to understanding the substrate selectivity, localization, targeting domains and physiological role of these transporters.
