时间:2017723日,上午845 -1200

地点:资环学院5-219

联系人:王钢 (010 6273 4558);朱堃(13651148113

Time Schedule:

8:45 – 9:00

Opening ceremony by Dr. Gang WANG and Dr. Chongyang SHEN

9:00 – 9:40

Dr. Dani OR (Prof. of Soil and Terrestrial Environmental Physics – ETH Zurich, Switzerland)

Presentation: Microbial life in soil aggregates – linking hotspots to soil biogeochemical fluxes

Prof. OR’s research focuses on mass and energy transport in porous media; mechanics of abrupt landslides and avalanches; evaporation and gas exchange from porous surfaces, and on linking physical processes and biological activity in soil. Dr. Or has authored and coauthored over 280 ISI refereed publications, co-authored a book, and over 400 proceeding papers and abstracts. Dr. Or is the former Editor in Chief of the Vadose Zone Journal, the recipient of the Kirkham Soil Physics Award (2001), 2004 Fellow of the Soil Science Society of America, chair of the 2008 Gordon Research Conference on Flow and Transport (Oxford, UK), and 2010 Fellow of the American Geophysical Union. He was selected the Birdsall-Dreiss distinguished lecturer, recipient of the 2013 Helmholtz International Fellow Award; elected 2014 Fellow of the Geological Society of America, and the 2017 European Geosciences Union John Dalton Medal.

9:40 – 10:20

Dr. Shmuel ASSOULINE (Senior research scientist at the Agricultural Research Organization - A.R.O, Israel)

Presentation: Agricultural and environmental impacts of the water quality-water quantity substitution approach in drip irrigation

Dr. ASSOULINE has received his degrees from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His main research interests address soil-water relationships in agricultural and natural ecosystems.  Shmuel has contributed to three key fields of soil physics: modeling soil hydraulic properties, and how they are affected by structural changes; irrigation management with focus on high-frequency drip irrigation and impact of water quality on soil properties and plant water uptake; and hydrological processes involving rainfall-infiltration-runoff relationships and evaporation from bare soils and from water bodies. Shmuel has authored and co-authored about 130 peer-reviewed publications. He was the Soil Science Society of America Kirkham Soil Physics Award recipient in 2016.

10:20 – 11:00

Dr. Li LIU (Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, Hefei University of Technology, China)

Presentation: Environmental stresses mediate microbial aggregation in drinking water supply and wastewater treatment systems

Dr. LIU has received BS and MS degrees from Hefei University of Technology and PhD degree from North Carolina State University. Her current research focuses on microbial aggregation shaped by environmental stresses in drinking water supply and wastewater treatment systems, and contaminant source characterization in drinking water systems.

11:00 – 11:40

Dr. Biao ZHU (Assistant Professor in the Department of Ecology, Peking University, China)

Presentation: Rhizosphere priming effect and deep soil carbon in response to global change

Dr. ZHU has received his BS and MS degrees from Peking University (2002 and 2005), and PhD degree from University of California at Santa Cruz (2010). After postdoc training at Cornell University and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (2011-2014), he returned to China and led a soil ecology group at Peking University. His current work focuses on soil carbon and nutrient cycling in response to global change (particularly soil warming and nitrogen deposition) in the alpine grassland on the Tibetan Plateau and the forest ecosystems in eastern China.
