学者简介:

Professor Huang is a full professor and Program Leader in University of Queensland. Prof Huang specialises in ecological engineering of mine wastes into non-polluting and sustainable soil-plant systems, such as magnetite tailings, bauxite residues (or red mud), Cu/Pb-Zn tailings, and AMD waste rocks. He has developed two major technological concepts of “Eco-engineering tailings into functional technosols” and “Bio-engineering / engineering mineral gels and hardpan systems from tailings for non-pollution”, with progression into (pre)feasibility stage. He is leading a multi-disciplinary research team, with major focuses on molecular geo-microbial ecology, mineral bioweathering and organic carbon sequestration, chemical engineering of mine wastes, metal(loid) biogeochemistry in mine wastes and environments, and plant ecophysiology. Professor Huang is currently the Group Leader of Ecological Engineering of Mine Wastes, Sustainable minerals institute (SMI), in University of Queensland. Prof Huang has more than 25 years of experience in soil-plant relations, plant environmental physiology, and tailings rehabilitation, with leadership experience of large translational research projects, funded by leading mining and minerals companies (such as BHP, Glencore, Queensland Alumina Ltd., Rio Tinto).
